Bybit is waiving fees entirely on crypto purchases made through Apple Pay, a month long promotion that removes the last friction point standing between an iPhone wallet and a crypto exchange account.
The exchange announced that eligible purchases of 100 USDT or more made via Apple Pay through its One-Click Buy flow will carry zero fees through September 24, spanning 36 supported fiat currencies and any bank card already linked to a user’s Apple Wallet. The mechanics are deliberately minimal: no transfers, no waiting window, just a card that is already sitting in a phone.
Why it matters
Every crypto exchange competing for new retail users is really competing against the number of steps between opening an app and holding an asset. Bank transfers and card verification have historically been that bottleneck, and rivals like Kraken have been racing to close the same gap with their own card and stablecoin products this month. Removing the fee on a payment method that hundreds of millions of people already use daily is a direct bid for the segment of users who have downloaded a crypto app but never completed a first purchase.
The insight
The promotion’s design says more than its size. A zero-fee window capped at one month and a $100 minimum purchase is not built to move volume from existing traders, who already have funded accounts and lower-friction rails. It is built to convert lookers into first-time depositors before the fee returns, using Apple Pay specifically because it requires no new information from the user, only a tap. As card-linked crypto spending keeps climbing, the exchanges that win are increasingly the ones that make the first purchase feel like buying anything else, not a distinct financial decision.
