Wise has joined Google’s new remittance experience as one of the initial providers, allowing US consumers to compare fees, exchange rates, and transfer speeds directly within Google Search results and Google Wallet. When users search for currency exchange rates on high-demand corridors from USD to INR, PHP, MXN, and BRL, they can initiate transfers through Wise without leaving Google’s ecosystem.
The integration is powered by Wise Platform, the company’s infrastructure-as-a-service layer that enables partners to embed cross-border payment capabilities. Stripe processes the transactions during the initial phase. Alongside Wise, the remittance experience includes Ria Money Transfer and Xe as alternative providers, creating a comparison marketplace within Google’s interface.
The partnership arrives at a significant moment for Wise. The company grew net revenue 19 percent year over year to 2.5 billion dollars in its fiscal 2026, processing 243 billion dollars in cross-border volume for 19 million customers. However, its take rate fell below 0.55 percent as competitive pressure intensified. Distribution through Google’s search and wallet infrastructure offers a low-cost customer acquisition channel at a scale that organic growth alone cannot match.
For the broader remittance industry, Google’s entry as a distribution layer signals that cross-border payments are following the same platform-mediation pattern as domestic payments. The provider with the best rate and speed wins the transaction. Brand loyalty matters less when a comparison interface sits between the customer and the service. This favors infrastructure-efficient operators like Wise while pressuring legacy providers whose margins depend on information asymmetry.
